Ive recently graduated and managed to find a job however I won't be starting for a few months, in the mean time Id like to find a job to raise some money for moving etc. This however isnt proving too easy so(I can only work for the summer months and not many employers are interested in hiring for that period) Im considering signing up for JSA.

Can anyone advise on whether Im eligible? Yes I do have a job but I am currently seeking work to fund moving/the first month etc.

Do I mention this in my interview? Is there any need, thanks!

Apply as normal as you satisfy the conditions of the claim prior to commencing your job. Stating that you have a job in a few months time won't affect your current entitlement.

    Congrats on the job.

    Hey all,

So I went ahead and did this and today I received a means test letter.

I called them to ask for an update and was told I'll be receiving a normal payment next week but with no arrears, however I'm now set to start work the week after(which is when I was told my arrears might be paid) I'm now not sure what will happen with them?

    Anyone any ideas?

You need to get onto your local office and tell them the date that you are starting work and ask them if they could issue arrears to you by cheque or into your bank account.
