To celebrate the first day of the Premier League season and Sky Sports' new line up of football, programmes from Sky Sports 1 will replace the regular programming on Sky 2 (on Sky and other pay TV services) and Pick TV (on Freeview and You View) on Saturday 17th August.

Free for just 1 day as they are competing against BT Sport isn't it.
They might as well have not bothered. why don't they just drop their high subscription charges for premium channels.

Yeh BT Sport will have the first Premier League game of the season at 12.45pm, the 5:30pm game is a new fixture for Sky Sports which they are trying to promote.

why bother? its just tokenism to show how overpriced skysports really is once ESPN is removed from the pack as a bonus channel for irish subs.

I see they're keeping it away from Freesat.

Because they are just too greedy.

Well for a start, it is ftv not fta, so you need a Sky card at the very least. To work on Freesat it would need to be fta, and it's not in the Freesat epg any way (which is all Freesat is)
So it isn't really "free" at all. Nothing from Sky ever is.

But it is also on Freeview via Pick TV so it will be free.

They never mentioned Freesat though, so it's more than likely just Pick TV on Freeview DTT

    it will be on freesat

sky have finally found pick tv, challenge and sky news give non sky viewers a taste of sky's content

Fair enough. Not being a footie fan, I don't really check them out.
I've seen Pick TV on my Freesat box, but have no idea what it is. Think it was Sky 3 at one time.
Anyway, anyone swayed by this ploy will end up heavily out of pocket - but, you pays your money...
