Umbrella left in taxi. What are my chances of recovery?

    Left a reasonably expensive umbrella behind in a taxi recently. Have no experience of trying to recover lost property from a taxi driver before. The fact that you have to go into a Garda station to start with isn't filling me with confidence. Will I be laughed out of it or directed with courtesy to the Big Central Storage Depot for lost property? Or does such a facility exist?
