Surprised by DECT Phone Interference on DTT

This is just a FYI. I have two TVs in different locations both with linked to a single aerial for Saorview. In the last few days I noticed that the feed to one was very low quality 20-40% with picture break up. The other TV was fine with 70-80% quality. Spent a good hour trying to work out why, changing cables, remaking connectors, checking this that and the other........

Anyhow as the thread title suggests it was the DECT phone near the TV. I noticed when I had my hand around the coax connector the signal got better. I moved the DECT phone about 6 inches and 100% quality. Moved it back and picture breakup.

I've seen my DECT phone interfering with the freq 12480V on satellite (when I moved it one time) but never on DTT.

I feel I need that hour of my life back....;)

If you get that hour back spend it replacing your coax with WF100, and remake the coax plug including soldering the centre pin.

Why...? Neither the connection or the cable were the issue (as proved by plugging in another device). Most likely the phone interferes with something on the circuit board in the back of the TV. I flagged it as a FYI as it first appeared to be an issue with the cable/connector then the TV tuner, then finally traced it to the DECT phone.

    Strange but true.

EDIT: It's far simpler to use F connectors on the CT100/WF100 cable and then a F-Female to male coax jack connector.

    Could be the phone PSU.

Using unsoldered/uncrimped plugs and "ordinary" coax (spiderweb screen no foil) will contribute to interference pickup.

Using F-connector and a good quality adaptor is a good plan, as long as it's a crimp F, not a screw on.
