Both a new laptop a couple of months ago with Windows 8 installed and I'll continue using it for now. The issue is Activation. Every so often it asks me to Active Windows and when I do, it throws an error. I know it's a legal copy packaged with the Laptop.

Anyone know of any issues similar to the above problem that will provide a solution, so I can resolve the issue, which is becoming a bit of a pain in the árse.

Can you right click in the bottom left corner, click "System" in the menu and what is displayed at the bottom of this window under "Windows Activation"? It could be an activation issue but could also be malware

I'll check it out when I get home and see. Just not used to 8 and it's problems yet.

Itzy this might sound daft but I've encountered it several times with servers and the workaround I found that works is to Activate while you have an Internet explorer session open (any site will do) and connected to the internet

Plausible work around. Shall check it out also, but I'm swaying towards malware at the moment until I can tell otherwise.
