Wife can't get the colour she wants

My wife gets her hair dyed, she asks for a full blond look almost bleached white. It's naturally brown, use to be blond when she was young. Hair dressers usually make some excuse like a full colour would be too hard on her hair, so she ends up with what looks more like blond highlights. Her hair has a natural curl and is shoulder length, it a very full head of hair so not fine and delicate. Every now and then she sees someone’s hair and says ‘why can't mine be done like that?’ It's not about the cut or the style, just the colour. Surly this can't be that hard! Some advice please.

I think they might be saying that because they are aware of the damage that can be done to hair by bleaching it so they don't want to be held responsible for the damage done to her hair which is fair enough.

I only get half head highlights and I can feel the damage it can do to my hair, so if she's looking for a more bleached look then some hairdressers may be reluctant to do it. A friend of mine bleached her hair a few years back and it really damaged her hair, it's only getting back to normal in the last year or so.

If she's really insistent on it though I'd go to someone who specialises in colour and get advice from them.

Bleaching her hair can wreck it tbh, and I'd say the hairdresser doesn't want her going in and giving out a few days later when her hair is really elastic and she can't brush through it.

It is something I have done myself, and it's one of the hardest hair colours to get and maintain. It's very hard to get the hair a white blonde colour without numerous bleachings (even from highlighted hair), and this process is harsh on the hair itself.

It's very hard to get a hairdresser to bleach hair white because they don't want to be held responsible when the hair gets like straw from the damage.

If your wife wants a really white look, she could consider bleaching it herself at home. There are loads of videos on YouTube and blogs online etc that show you how to do it, how to protect the hair as much as possible, etc. She'll need to tone it as well to remove any yellow-ness, she'll find all the info online too.

I have naturally dark hair. I was blonde for years thanks to highlights but decided to bleach it white. Most of it broke off, it's taken me 3 years to grow it back. Would not advise at all.

Yeah, it will damage her hair. My hair is naturally a medium blonde and I've been dying it a white-ish blonde for the past year and it's really damaged. Only dyed it two times too. So you can imagine how damaged it would make brown hair that has to be dyed a lot more frequently!

Really don't think it's worth it. She can keep getting highlights that will eventually cover a lot of her head and it will still be very light blonde, just not white. Which I think is nicer anyway. And a lot easier to keep in good condition!
