    Hey folks
Just a quick one, im looking to buy an Avensiss 06 with 60 thousand miles on it,its had 3 owners but i found out it was regiestered as a hackney for 14 months, maybe a part timer due to low mileage ,would this turn you off the car, its body is in mint condition and there is no wear and tear at all around the steering wheel or gear stick,, and its going for 5000 , Was Nct 'd yesterday for 2 years, and hasd a 3 month engine and gear box warrenty ,
I know its hard to tell with out seeing it but just looking for thoughts,

    Thanks

That's below average mileage. Id want a full service history to back up that figure tbh

It doesn't have all the stamps for a full service history, but im guessing thats why its only costing 5grand and i got him down to that price from 6 cause of the fact it was a hackney, which he told me about straight away,

A candidate for clocking? Be wary.

is it a dealer? if so who?

It's from a garage not a main dealer

Without a fully verified service history to back up the low mileage and the fact that it was a hackney in a former life, the true mileage could be anything really. There are a number of 2006 Toyota Avensis diesels on donedeal with twice that mileage or more asking upwards of that price. I would not be blinded by the low price because it asks more questions than it answers. Imo if it was genuine then imo it would be selling for more than €5k, it's cheap for a reason.

Thanks for all the help folks,
Its a tuff one as the car is really in fantastic condition and better nick than most 07 i seen,as i said the inside is like brand new,
I can also see both side, of its to cheap to be true, and its cheap because as soon as people see hackney they think clocked and dogy and walk away,
Also a hackney's not as bas as a taxi as they can't just drive around looking for a pick up.
Plus with the Celtic tiger people bought cars for taxiing and hackneying to make extra cash with a second job and didn't use them half as much as they would have .
So its tuff but i may just walk away from this one ,

    Is it petrol or diesel?

    Petrol

I wouldn't let the fact that it was a Hackey turn you off. Far too much is made of that on here. It makes little difference if a car was used as a Hackney or privately other than the suggestion someone made above as to the fact it might have been clocked. But private cars could be clocked too.

Forget about the Hackney thing mate, its not that important imo.

I'd walk away if I was you. Better than regretting it months down the line. As for three months engine and gearbox, probably not worth the paper it's written on.

I would, a Hackney with low mileage is suspicious. The same way if I was buying private with low mileage and was more worn than you'd expect .

Could have a new set of seats fitted?

Or more likely it had seat covers and mats when it was a hackney.Have seen many taxis/hackneys that were like new after if they had fitted the heavy duty leatherette seat covers and decent mats from the start(not argos ones for €20).

That car should have been through the nct last year if its 06,2010 and 2012 would be correct but if the car checks out i would go for it as they are ultra reliable from my experience.
