Many will have already seen http://www.stickybottle.com/latest-news/usadas-pursuit-of-lance-armstrong-was-vigorous-but-heres-their-testing-figures-across-all-sports/

I'm just curious about some of the figures. It doesn't surprise me that Cycling and Track&Field have the highest tests, but next highest for 2013 is Skiing & Snowboarding? wat? Although for 2012, the winter sports seem to be higher: Bobsled & Skeleton, and Speedskating as well. But there was no winter olympics. Are the winter sports just more concerned about doping?

Weight-lifting and wrestling have plenty too.

Two tests for golf? One test for surfing? What's the point if you're not going to do it properly - sports should be to instil the fear that you'll be caught if you dope, not that there's an outside chance you might be tested, and then caught.

And I'd like to see a breakdown of the ratio of tests to competitors.

Not sure why snowboarding is up there but skiing is an endurance sport and the same things can be of benefit there as in cycling. Bob, skeleton, speedskating are power sports and plenty of substances are around to be abused there.

Suspect skiing and snowboarding are lumped together in one category, so it could be heavily skewed towards the skiers...

Think I read somewhere that a lot of the doping techniques used by cyclists (transfusions, epo etc) ether came from, or are closely linked to those used by nordic combined skiers -it's a similar endurance sport where the benefits would also be quite good..
