Hey all, i'm looking for advice on buying a new laptop. Only really need it for college work, Internet and other general things like that. I have a budget between €500-600. Currently on an Acer laptop, most certainly not on its last legs but not performing like it used to. Cheers

With that range of budget, I would suggest you buy either HP or Dell.

That budget should get you a perfect laptop for college work.

    But need to know preferences.

Id recommend a laptop 15.4" or under if its for college work.
You wont want to be lugging around a big 17".

Would you prefer a thin, neat looking laptop? Or does looks/thickness matter at all to you?

    Can you buy online?

    Acer Online

    Heres a good Acer Laptop.
Works out at 600€ Delivered. Delivery is 10£, which i've included.

    Has a good Processor.
Screen is normal resolution, nothing too exciting.
    Has Windows 8 64-bit
8GB Ram, allows you to run numerous programs at once.
    500GB HD Space
Graphics are integrated, fine if you dont plan on doing much gaming.
12 Months Acer Collect & Return Warranty
Up to 4.5 Hour Battery Life(3-3.5 is prob more realistic.)

Thank you for your detailed reply! I'm not too fussed about what the laptop would look like. I don't think I'd bring it into college as I would always use the computers available instead. And I can buy online.

I found a similar laptop on the same site: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_V3-571_1289838.html

Would you recommend it? The only difference I can see is with the processor.

Yes they are the same laptop apart from the processor.
But the i7 is noticeably faster than the i5 in that model.
If you wont be doing to much processor intensive work, the i5 model would be grand.

Same laptop as i showed except 750GB HD, instead of 500GB, delivery is extra 20 or so, so looking at about 605-610 Delivered there.
Depends really on which website you want to use there really.
I wouldn't let the extra 250GB HD space cloud your judgement.(Who will ever use 500GB on a laptop anyways?)

    Hey again,

Just getting round to buying the laptop now, have had a hectic few weeks.

Unfortunately, the laptops in the links above are no longer available so would appreciate some advice.

    How is this laptop?: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_E1-571_1334871.html

    Thanks in advance.
