    Well guys,

Friend of mine needs some C1 lessons but can't find any anywhere. Doesn't need the full c, just the c1 as he's looking to apply to the ambulance service (hoping to do the same as me). Probably easier for him to learn in a lwb transit/iveco than a rigid.

Ohh midlands/greater dublin area would be nice.

Never heard of anywhere doing C1 lessons, doubt there would be any instructors setup to give C1 lessons as I would assume demand would be almost non existent. Easier to do C lessons and test.
Thought that you needed D1 for ambulance???? which you can get without doing C test now (open to correction on this), Lots of instructors set up to give D1 lessons as its in demand.

    Hi OP,
The likes of Hynns/Quinn school of motoring do both the truck and bus lessons around the Athlone area, if your looking at schools in Dublin I would highly recommend Colliers in Finglas as I went from no licence to the full artic in under 18 months.
As for getting the D licence first don't get the C licence as the ambulance weighs over 3500kgs some weigh about 5000kgs,A mate of mine recently applied to the NAS and before been admitted to sit the aptitude tests they checked that people had at least the C1 licence.

Thanks guys for the advice. He's aware of the need of a D1 but we're looking to get this sorted first.

Surely there is somewhere in the Midlands or even Dublin that has a C1 vehicle?

There used to be a school in Dublin that did the C1 lessons years ago haven't seen the truck in a while, Also cost wise there would be hardly much in the difference between the C1&C lessons.
And with getting the C licence your friend while waiting on the NAS to recruit again might be able to pick up work driving a truck and getting some experince.
