If memory serves, the 1.6 tdci is fords re-badging of the hdi engine Peugeot and Citroen use. Youll find them in Mazdas, Volvos and... possibly minis? I'm not gonna lie, when they're good, theyre great. Very powerful and very, very efficient. But they have a reputation for destroying marriages! Common failure points include the turbo, exhaust particle filter, egr system, injectors and the dual mass flywheel. All very, very expensive things. It really is an engine you have to be extre careful about buying. Anything over 100,000 km that has been serviced "every 30k like the book says" should probably be left alone. Low mileage ones will need their oil changed every 15k at most with fully synthetic oils to keep them well. I don't want to say too many bad things but I hope this helps. My own parents 08 Xsara picasso will have 180,000 on it in about a month and because I literally STEAL their car every 15k and service it for them, It has never missed a single beat! Best of luck and hope this helps:)
