    Hi Guys,

I'm upgrading my system and just wanted to run it past you before I took the plunge.

I need AMD-Vi support to run the Windows 8 Client Hyper-V hence the upgrade. The system will not be used for gaming much.

Anyways here's what I'm looking to add

    Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
    AMD FX6350
    8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengence Pro PC3-17066

I plan to use the stock cooler for now, but get a H80i in the near future (pre-Christmas).

The build will be going into a Corsair 300r case with stock fans and running on a XFX 550w Core Edition PSU.

The current system drive is Crucial M4 128Gb, with a Seagate 4tb drive for data and a Radeon 6670 for the GPU.

Does that upgrade seem like a logical place to be? It's currently coming to around €350 for the upgrade so I guess that's my budget if anybody suggests changes.

An AMD 8320 wouldn't be a whole lot dearer then an FX 6350 . So if it requires multitasking you are getting two extra cores .

I have no idea what those programs are but if more threads are useful to you then the 8320 is definitely better value.

The board you selected is a premium overclocking, sli capable board as well. You are paying for some features you won't use. (Assuming you have no intentions of using 2 graphics cards)

Something like this would be better imo. There's still €50 left over for a good cooler. I'm not sure about cooler compatibility with that case but you should be able to get something good for overclocking for that money or a little more.

    Item|Price
AMD FX-8320 Prozessor, Boxed, Sockel AM3+|€139.04
    Gigabyte GA-970-UD3, AMD 970, AM3+, ATX|€78.63
    8GB-Kit G.Skill Sniper PC3-14900U CL9-10-9-28|€62.25
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€298.91
