    Hello,
    I want to start to use the Irish version of my name on my official documents, but I need a bit of advice first. Should I also use the Irish version of my first name. For example if my name was Shane should I use Seán with my Irish surname? Or just stay using Shane along with the Irish surname.

    Hi,
    For the example you give you could try Séan.
    At least that's what I would use, were I, theoretically only of course, a Shane...

    It is up to you but your 1st name is your 1st name so sometimes people use their given 1st name and irish surname.

    I think if I were to change my first name it would be weird for my friends and family now, if all of a sudden I had a new first name.
