Use a fenn mk 6 , the mk 4 is a bit on the small size. I use apples chopped up as bait, Have had success with monkey nuts also. The biggest obstacle you will find is getting the squirrels used to the traps. You may have to leave them there not set for a week just so they get used to them, but leave a little bit of bait. Make sure you have a good tunnel made of plywood to put the trap in, fenn traps are lethal for passing animals and they are known for catching unintended species if not properly concealed.

Is the mark 6 as light to go off though?and would the smaller squirrels be able to go under the jaws? Sorry I'm completely new to fenn trapping

You can have the mk 4 and mk6 to go off at different pressures, its how you set them that determines the pressure needed. They can be set to go off with the slightest touch or can be set that they require a bit more weight to set them off. For squirrels you wont need it too sensitive , if you leave the trap there for a few days not set theyll get used to touching it and moving around it. The idea of the tunnel is to protect other animals from being trapped and also to guide the targeted animal (rat , rabbit , squirrel or mink etc) onto the trap so they have to cross it rather than go around it. When they cross it they step on the pressure pad and SNAP ! With rats I usually smear peanut butter on the pressure pad so they have to apply pressure to get it.
