this may not be the right forum, but i couldn't find a more apropriate one, so feel free to move if necessary.

i have a windows phone that's linked to my gmail account. on my gmail ac i have set filters which skips the inbox and moves directly to archive. however, on my phone i still get notifications for these emails and they arrive in my inbox ON MY PHONE ONLY. when i check my gmail on laptop they have indeed skipped inbox. it's annoying because i don't want to receive notifications on my phone for them or see them in my inbox on my phone.

anyone else experiencing this or know how to rectify? many thanx

I think its because there is no gmail client for windows phone google refuse to make one. So its just the basic email client you are using. Try downloading the gmail app of the windows store. Its not official but is based of the code for the official iphone app

How did you add the gmail account? Did you use exchange (i believe that's still working) or a POP set up?

I don't think the default setup for GMail uses exchange so mail is handled differently.

Like TBi says, it's probably something to do with how you setup the account. I have filters on my gmail too to filter out stuff from some mailing lists and it works great.
