Sometimes stuff happens that kinda stops you in your tracks...:(

It's a grim read, with absolutely nothing to relieve the sense of foreboding and darkness...

    http://schadenfreudeuk.blogspot.ie/2011/03/lesley-ann-downey-tape-transcript.html

Today,we read of Ian Brady's exploits as he battles the forces that obviously still struggle to comprehend whatever it is that motivates him.

    http://www.independent.ie/world-news/europe/moors-murderer-ian-brady-i-murdered-children-for-existential-experience-29371134.html
MOORS murderer Ian Brady has said he murdered five children for an “existential experience” and indicated he does not “regret” what he did.

He told his mental health tribunal today that he is not "psychotic" and should be allowed to return to prison.

What should the UK authorities do in respect to this man ?

Brady, mad or not, knows full well that few,if any,of those now sitting in adjudication on him are of the era when he camly decided to abandon humanity.

I'd be in favour of granting him his request, with one caveat.....the playing of the Lesley-Ann Downey tape 24 hours a day in his cell for the remainder of his life, with breaks only to ascertain whether he was prepared to give up the location of the grave of Keith Bennett.

There are a couple of threads currently rumbling along on Boards concerning the merits or otherwise of having children, but it's only when reading the Lesley-Ann Downey Tape transcript that one understands the meaning of the term "Stolen Childhood"

There are those who suggest that Evil,as a concept, does not exist, reading slowly through the transcript makes me envy those folk their certainty. :(

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Whatever his motives were for killing those children is irrelevant at this point. He's spent most of his life in a mental facility for the criminally insand and he should die there. He's had 50 years to work on his stories. He only wants a prison transfer so he can kill himself. I don't think he should have that luxury.

Seeing as how he made the tape of Lesley Anne Downey being tortured for his own sick gratification I doubt that would be any form of punishment.

Perhaps, but what floated his boat 50 years ago,may well hopefully sink it now as an old man ?

I doubt it. He's never shown the slightest bit of remorse about the killings and he was still twisted enough in his 70's to keep stringing along Keith Bennett's mum who just wanted to give her son a funeral before she died. Old age is not about to turn Brady into the remorseful type.

execute him, he's wasted enough lives and enough state funds on dealing with him.

Give him his wish of killing himself in return for divulging the location of Keith Bennett's body and finally giving closure to his family who have suffered terribly down the years.

Ian Brady has been taken to hospital after a fall at the high-security psychiatric unit where he is being held.

Why would you want to read what I assume is dreadful stuff. Brady should be dead. Let the devil have him.

If he's miserable alive then I'd favour keeping him that way for as long as possible and by any means possible.

The devil or whatever will have plenty of time with him

Why do we pay to keep people like him alive? Why?

I say let him go back to the general prison population and let the warders "lose" some pliers about the place and let the locals deal with him.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'm a bit shook up after reading that.I have two young daughters and feel sick at the thought of that poor little girl.

Would her mother have heard this?

My mam was a counsellor in Holloway prison years ago and met Myra Hindley. She was pregnant at the time with my older sister and Myra Hindley knit her a pink teddy bear which my sister still has to this day.

I remember my mam telling us that story when we were kids and it freaked me out. She said she had icy cold eyes. It freaks me out. I don't know why she accepted the teddy bear to be honest.

Unfortunately she had to listen to it to identify her daughter. Would haunt you forever more. Poor woman.
