So this is the new 11th generation Corolla going on sale here at the end of July. Pretty much predictable styling, looks like a shrunken Avensis and interior straight out of the Auris. Pretty much the same engine line up as the Auris too.

    Riveting stuff.

Do we not always expect the expected from Ye Olde Corolla? Have Toyota ever gone after the Lamborghini demographic with those things? :D

No worse looking than the other small saloons to be fair to it.

They've toned it down a lot from the rather nice looking concept.

If you made the best selling car in the world, for reasons of it being simple, efficient, mid-sized, well made and conservative, would you upset the applecart?

Its a volkswagen, in the original sense of the word.

If its off the wall style you want, buy this, but dont say I didnt warn you!

There are worse looking cars on the road in fairness.

Im not really sure what you expected; barring one absolutely lovely Corolla in the early 00s (cant remember which model exactly) they have never really pushed the boat out in terms of exciting styling.

Funnily enough I like the Delta.

Maybe I will buy a Delta, maybe I will buy one on the principle of it's not a greyer shade of beige gruel, thank you

I didn't get a picture as my phone was dead but I regularly passed 3 brand new Lancia's (Chryslers) in Aberdeen parked along side each other, a white 300c, a grey/black Delta and a red and black Y.

    Very nice sight in fact.

Big improvement in styling, the wheels could be bigger. I suspect the interior will look a lot less refined in poverty spec.
A T-Sport version in the style of the concept model would be nice.

I presume these will have the BMW engines available at some stage?

Just remove all the nice bits and you'll have the ever popular Linea Terra.

I wonder will it still come without aircon

Of course it will come without a/c, sure the Auris still doesn't have it and we're in 2013! The UK market has had a/c as standard in the Corolla/Auris since 2004, Ireland as always lags well behind its nearest neighbour when it comes to standard equipment (not helped by the general tendency of the average Irish buyer to buy the cheapest possible version of any given car, of course).

To be fair, the proper spec ones look like an enormous improvement inside compared to the old model, not that that would be difficult, of course. The 2014 Corolla will be bigger than the 2003-2008 model Avensis. I'd say if it's using the same engines as the Auris, then it will be seriously underpowered, an 03-08 Avensis is no ball of fire with a 1.8 petrol, and struggles with a 1.6, and even the 1.6 in that car has more power than a 1.33 Dual VVTi.

My point was the Delta is rubbish, had the misfortune to hire one in Italy, flimsy shabby spongey rubbish. At least with Toyota its fair quality

The US spec preview looks a bit better

Jesus, I can almost imagine the feel of that pleather from here. Looks almost identical to the seat backs of a Corolla XL that was at home when I was a nipper.
