flight operations dispatcher

    Ho guys im just wondering if anyone could give me some advice here ..i went for an interview for a flight operations dispatcher.,went preety well even though i was nervous at first. im just wondering does anyone have an idea what the job is like? the salary and if its something worth doing? or does anybody know anyone who has / is working in that area? cheers!

    It really depends on if you really mean "dispatcher", this is a legally required position for US airlines, the person share joint operational responsibility with the Captain to ensure that the aircraft is dispatched legally and safely, and to provide a flight following service to ensure that this level of safety is maintained throughout the flight. You need a license to hold this position.

    You attended an interview for a job you didn't know much about :eek:

    You may well be genuine but that seems odd. Anyway as smurfjed said it can really be 2 very different jobs i.e., a dispatcher/red cap or an FOO/flight planner. I can give you plenty of info on the latter role if you want? If its a flight ops position I suspect it's a flight planner job.
