    Hi all,

I’m about to attempt my 1st ever build in the next week and I’ve the below items already bought , should be arriving by the end of the week.

The only items I don’t have picked out is the PSU and the RAM, any advice?
This is the set up so far.

Cooler Master CM Storm Enforcer - USB3
    MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming Motherboard LGA1150 Intel Z87
    i5 (4670K) 3.4GHz Quad Core Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler
    EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SUPERCLOCKED 2048MB( Possibly 2 )
    Samsung 120GB 840 Pro
    WD 1TB CAVIAR BLUE 64MB 7200RPM
Windows 8 ( Wanted Win 7 but out of stock where I was getting this from)
Cooler Master Trigger Gaming Keyboard (Red Cherry)
    Cooler Master Inferno Gaming Mouse
Additional Cooler Master MegaFlow 200 LED Silent Fan (Red)

On the PSU I’ve a choice from CoolerMaster, EVGA or OZ, from what I’ve been told 650 – 750 watt.

On the RAM, I’ve been directed towards the below 3 but not sure which one, if you can recommend a different one let me know.
    Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) Vengeance Red 2133MHz DDR3 DIMM 240-pin CL11
    G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB) Sniper DDR3 PC3-14900U CL9-10-9-28 1866 MHz
    G.Skill 8GB (2x4GB) Ripjaws-X DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz CL9

    Cheers,
    Ant

    Hey,

I'm currently building something similiar and I got an XFX 750W Modular off elara.

    http://www.elara.ie/productdetail.aspx?productcode=JCEPSU-XFX-P1-750X-XXB9

Might be a bit expensive and overkill for me anyway but It's fully approved for haswell (not a big issue really) and its modular. The modular bit means cable management is so much handier for my first build. Happy I went with it. Elara offer free delivery as well so that's a plus. I've dealth with them before and all good so far anyway.

As for memory I went with Crucial XMS3 1333Mhz just because it was cheap on offer 16GB for 80 euro. Slow speed but the speed of ram isn't too important as far as i know. Can always upgrade in the future anyway. I've spent a good bit on this Build so far and just waiting on parts now.

    Fractal Design Define R4
    Gigabyte Z87 D3HP
    i5 (4670K) 3.4GHz Quad Core Processor
    Be Quiet Shadow Rock
    Gigabyte Windforce 3 7950
    Samsung 250GB 840
    Seagate Barracude 2TB 7200RPM
    Windows 7
Old Keyboard (get a new one sometime)
Ankar Gaming Mouse (absolute bargain at like 11 euro)
and i threw in another fractal r2 fan
and bought a caddy for my laptop for another kingston 120GB SSD

    Hi,

Couldn't wait much longer for advice, had to order the PSU this morning to catch a shipment that's leaving the UK today other wise I'd have to wait until the 05/07/13 for the next delivery.

    Went with the following PSU:
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750G 750W Gold Power Supply Unit ( Fully Modular )
Overkill I know but got it for €43.67 so what the heck.

And just ordered only 30mins ago the following RAM, I had Amazon vouchers I had to use.
    G-Skill 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 Dual Kit - Red @ £60.13

Dying and dreading to start this build, started the list 2-3 months ago.

Just waiting on an e-bay seller now to reply back to a mail I sent him about a Qnix 1440 Monitor, all goes well I'm ordering tonight or tomorrow and that's everything ordered.

Feel like a kid at Xmas, can't wait.

I only browse this now and again. And I wouldn't call what i say advice haha. That sounds like a right deal. Just checked and that PSU is made by FSP which are supposedly a very good PSU maker. 44 is a bargain.

G Skill was mentioned in a lot of posts i looked at.

I only got the idea about a month ago. Waiting on my last few items to come. Actually looking forward to it.

I got a 24" benq 1080p lately and have it connected to my laptop. I don't know how i used 768 screen before. It's brilliant.

The postman was saying I'm keeping him in a job with all the boxes coming haha. It is like christmas opening all the presents. It's a pity santy isn't buying anymore though.

Bugger, just realised I've still to sort out a desk and chair, better start looking.

    Good luck with the build.

Next time if you need advice on a PSU, try be a bit more specific than brand names, as the exact model is far more important because most brands use a wide variety of OEM to make different product lines, so quality can vary wildly.

I had a look in here last night but left when I saw there were no links, because I simply didn't have enough information models/prices etc to offer advice :)

You have chosen well BTW, but who is selling the EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750G 750W for €43
