    Hi All,

We bought a house recently and the garden had been neglected for a number of years. During May, lots of bluebells appeared in a cavity block that was lying in an overgrown area. Fast forward to today, we were clearing out the junk from the garden and I cleared out the bulbs from the block as I want to replant them in the garden. There is a number of big bulbs but also hundreds of small ones - see picture attached.

My questions 1.) how have the small bulbs got there, do they reproduce by themselves?
2.) Have I disturbed the small bulbs too soon, can they still produce flowers next year?
2.) How best to preserve them until I am ready to replant them in approx 1 month?

    Thanks for your help!

All bulbs have by now gone into their "dormant" phase so they should survive very well. Keep them fully covered in a bucket/tray of moist (not wet) soil in a cool spot until you are ready to replant them. Just be sure they don't dry out at any stage. When you replant they should be in a lightly shaded/semi shaded part of the garden. The bigger ones should flower next year - the smaller ones may need a year or 2 to build up their strength etc.
