Hoping for a bit of help. Just moved out to skerries and am looking to get broadband sorted.

A salesman from Vodafone was going round the doors selling fibre power at up to 70 Mbps but when I checked with the company they said the max to our part of kellys bay was 5.1 Mbps .

Does anyone have a recommendation for a provider and does anyone know what Vodafone are up to?

Hi ya, i believe the Fibre Power stuff is due to be enabled within the next month or 2 if not before so he is probably not far off the mark.

Voda are waiting for the eircom VDSL rollout in your area to be released...which is supposed to be October this year

Slightly older thread but we're in the exact same situation. Trying to find out when fibre will be available in Kellys Bay in Skerries.

Just spoke to an Eircom rep and their line is now:

Eircom Rep: Not at this time, the area is however not your local cabinet possibly late 2013.

What are you basing that on? :)

    http://www.eircom.net/efibreinfo/map/

Seems to be what a few other threads have said and i also asked a vodafone rep - who said that fibre broadband would be in before november.

one caution - i dont know if the box for kellys bay has been upgraded, though as ED E points out some boxes in skerries definitely have

They're pretty obvious in most cases, if you live there you'd probably have spotted them if they'd been installed. Keep an eye for Eircom/KN vans at this point I'd say.

So a question - we're (hopefully) getting the keys to our house in Skerries next week.

Should I go ahead and order broadband or wait to see the lay of the land?

If I ordered the standard Vodafone product, will we get upgraded to fibre as soon as it goes live?

As far as i know vodafone use the eircom tech so I would assume you will be upgraded automatically. The door to door people were certainly selling vodafone as a (soon-to-be) fibre power product. Ive got eircom now and havent really had many problems with band width in terms of streaming (netflix etc) so im happy enough currently. Dont do a huge amount of upload/downloading however

You have to order the upgrade, but Eircom wholesale commissions the cab and thats when both vodafone and Eircom Retail get access, so its the same whichever you chose. The quicker you get in the sooner your appointment will be.

What is happened for Skerries eFibre to be pushed out until 2014, when all of new cabinets have been installed for months. Absolute Joke

Its far more popular than they guessed I suspect, too busy getting customers set up.

Other threads still say engineers at the cab up at eurospar expect fibrepower to be on in skerries by end october. They say the call centre monkeys are misguided in this case.

    we wait and hope

They work for two different organizations and Wholesale(engineers) arent telling any of the retail ISPs(eircom, Vodafone, Sky(who dont care yet)) jack shít. So until they update the map we're all in the dark. That said, by the progress thats gone on Id be surprised if they dont activate before Christmas.

Apparently if you live just beside the exchange i.e. Greenlawns or Millhill you can order fiber from Eircom today (but not Vodafone). No other areas of skerries appear live yet. Hopefully it wont be long now!!

Is the area all live now, as the Map was updated but address not appearing in the line checker

Moving into Seacrest shortly & this estate is not eFibre enabled - as of February 2015.

    Checked Eircom & Eircom's eFibre Coverage website and the following locations, according to Eircom, are eFibre enabled - that are near enough to Seacrest;

    Moorings Cove Ballbriggan Rd

The Crescent & The Grove Skerries Rock,

    Town Parks & Foxgrove.

Looks like I'll have to sell my new house and buy one in one of the above !!!
