    Hi All,
I'm actually asking for my friend and not for me :)
I understand "Gaming Laptop" is a bit of a contradiction in terms but it's worth a shot.
So he's looking to spend £600-£700 (he's based in the UK).
It would need to be reliable, good HDD/SSD space and be able to play games like C&C3, Starcraft 2, Total War series etc comfortably.
Can someon give me some advice?
Laptops are not my thing TBH.

    Buy a Tower PC..

a Gaming Laptop would only last max 4 years.

the amount of heat that it will give up and their is Not much air vents in some laptops,

you will notice over heating. I had a gaming laptop before. Stick with a Tower that way you can upgrade the GPU even now and again.

Would be better with a tower.

Don't forget to add a OS. Adding Win7 Pro brings price to £770. Over budget, but a powerful laptop.

I'm in the same boat with regards to a gaming laptop and the same budget, so would be interested in some more opinions.
I have a great rig here at home, Crossfire graphics etc...but....I'm moving to South Korea and can't take it with me as it's way too big and awkward....I would love to buy a Tower, but I don't know how long I'll be over there for.

So a laptop is the way forward to feed my gaming habits , as above, SC2, TF2, LoL etc.

Is this any use, or would I be better off with something else, I am completely unfamiliar with laptop graphics cards etc

The NVIDIA GeForce GT 710M would not be very good for gaming.

Here is one for 660£ delivered.

It has the latest Haswel Chip
Same other specs, except it has a 740M GPU.

Here is a review on the 740M if you need benchmarks for games etc.

You would want to be looking at at least a 640M or above, or a 730M or above to have any decent gaming on a laptop.

Cheers, I'll probably go for that laptop so.
I'll end up taking my own keyboard and mouse though to use with it, as I can't deal with laptop keys

I would say save up abit more money and buy a proper gaming laptop . I own an Alienware thats a few years old and still plays games at good res with decent FPS . It's all about bang for buck and a gaming laptop by the likes of Pc Specialist has more chance of being upgradeable then an off the shelf laptop .

Register with Parcel Motel. They give you a NI address you can use for shipping. First 2 deliveries are free. Though not sure if it will fit into one of their secure lockers so you may end up paying ~€10 and have to collect from a Nightline depot.

Picking up an oversized package from a depot is covered by the normal 3.50 charge.

Well for gaming that Res. makes sense because it should be able to play games at that res . There is nothing worse then gaming on Laptop and not running at the screens full res because it can look awful .
