Leaving a system drained

    Hi all,

I'm in the middle of some renovations at home and whilst taking a radiator off, the valve at the side started leaking. I took no risks trying to fix the valve in situ and drained the system.

In about 4 weeks time, we have a plumber coming to upgrade 2 rads, fit some TRV's etc.

Question is, can i leave it drained until then? Will it start rusting out whilst its empty?

    Thanks.

PS, like an idiot, i had all the rads open, so its fully drained down, i should have closed all the rads, but i was under serious time pressure and freaking that the valve was about to blow!

It should be fine. However there would be the risk of dirt/gunk drying out and dislodging and when you refill it will flow around the system with the water.

I suppose ideally you would want to flush the system.

The other rads won't empty unless you open the vent in them while the system is draining
