Hi does anybody know where I could find the prices of courses at NFC? In particular PPL and CPL/IR? Can't find anything online, anybody know the prices at the top of their head? Thanks

Give them a call, they are sound. I`ve done most of my training with them

Thanks Xpro, I'm just in the research stage at the moment sending emails to a good few schools here and abroad. Funnily enough NFC are the only ones who haven't responded yet. They would probably be my first choice so far as they are only 15 minutes drive away, just wished they would reply.

Did you get to finish your training?

Id say your best bet would be to call in and have a chat with them.

Im in the middle of my Atpl theory exams, soon to do Cpl, so still another year left i would say.

Over 11,500 euro for a PPL?!!
When I did mine back in 1997, I went to the US and had change left out of £2000.

    You sound like my grandfather:

When I was your age I could go to the shop with 50p and get milk, a paper and 20 penny whistles and moonpies!...then we went home and slept in a bin until my father came home from work and beat us to death!..but people were happier back then!

There gone very expensive now, a couple of years ago I was getting a C152 solo hire for €155, then it went up to €175 and now its around €195. In the USA you can get a C152 for 80 Dollars/hr wet, or a G1000 C172 for around 130 Dollars/hr. Ireland is just too expensive now.

well you know that old "supply and demand" relationship... if the price is what it is, it's because some people can afford to pay it.

I'm still considering it, but if I will go for the training, I will very likely pay the NFC price simply because my work is too important for me and I can't take some good few months off only to learn to fly overseas.

Prices round here and in Europe are going up because FTOs realise that airlines are less inclined to hire those who have trained solely on the US. It doesnt matter how low the price is in the US, people who do their research won't go there for employment reasons.

Same as, for me to quit work and go abroad would end up costing me more then i saved.

But yes, rental/instructor price are mad over here. If you are out of work, theres no way you could fly, maybe get one hour a month if saving hard. :(

Infairness all the schools in ireland are in around the same money, not just the NFC

Avgas is 100% more than unleaded. Easa maintainance rip offs means a tyre change which costs 100 euros costs 450 euros to change. Its a business and everyone is in on it. I pay 150 stg per hobbs hour in the North on a Tecnam but live in Dublin. Theres not much in it. I only do it up there as its always better to be part of a well organised club than a formal flight school and the one in Newtownards is the best organised of them all. The aircraft are 2 years old versus old but safe 30 y old cessnas. NFC are sound though.
