    Hey

Flying to Beijing in two weeks - yippee.

My friends in China are requesting I bake and bring cake (they over enthused about it when they visited Ireland) !!!

I was all set to do same and maybe bring in tupperware thingy - cubed like brownies.

But it just dawned on me maybe thats a problem with customs etc ?

I never traveled to a country where you had to complete a customs form on board etc, and just am clueless, and don't want any hassle

At the same time they are providing accommodation etc so would like to meet their request

any help (I know it's a slightly odd question)

OH ALSO ! I was telling them I need to register with the hotels used for part of trip - they have no idea what I am talking about -if any one know what that is called ? I think I am meant to do it at a police station technically ?

    much thanks

There's nothing on the arrivals card that you fill out asking if you're carrying cake! Given the amount of crap Chinese people carry through airports over there I'd say you'll be OK. (Food is a very common souvenir). Worst case scenario they take it but I doubt it.

Technically, the same arrivals card states that you must go through accommodation registration at a local police station if you're not staying at a hotel, guesthouse or inn. This applies to you. I've no idea if it's enforced but given the large number of police stations it shouldn't be difficult. If you stay in a hotel etc. they look after the registration.

Here's a link to the arrivals card.

Have a good trip - I'm heading there at the end of July myself.
