Buying a House in Carlow

Hi guys,help needed and hopefully ta god some good comments:D
Me and my girlfriend are currently looking at buying a house in THE LAURELS in Carlow town.Im told its an ok area some good people in there,some arseholes in there.Does anyone on here know what the place is like or has anyone lived there before??..Any help would be great guys cheers:)

It's one of the roughest spots in Carlow. Anytime you read in the paper about someone getting the sh*t kicked out of them or stabbed it's almost always in or around that stretch of the Tullow road.

I'm not sure if it's council housing out that direction, but it is definitely the cheapest place to rent in Carlow so you get a lot of the people who want to claim rent allowance moving out there. Before somebody jumps down my throat I'm not saying everyone on rent allowance is scum, but I am saying a lot of scum are on rent allowance.

Most of Carlow is a hit and miss, its not my favorite place in the world.

Ever hear of Longford? No probs if you haven't sure I dont think google has even heard of Longford.

Everywhere in the world is like this and I'm sure that area of Carlow is no different. Except they say "fair" "quare" and "laaad" quite a lot.

If you are looking for somewhere reasonably priced that's not a kip in Carlow I'd recommend Crossneen Manor. I lived there for 4 years, it's a lovely area. I think the going rate is about 120k for a 3 bed at the moment. I think the reason house prices are so cheap out there is because you have to pass through Graiguecullen to get to Carlow town which is a pretty run down looking area. Not a big issue if you drive. It's one of the few areas that aren't filled with Students or scum bags and doesn't flood. Highfield Manor and Rochford Manor out the same direction are probably just as nice too, have never lived in either tho so can't say for sure.

It's a student town so keep that in mind when you are picking a place to live. Rag week is hell for some areas.
