I am looking for some ideas on what would be a good highest shrub to fill a gap in the corner of our garden.

I would like something that would have nice flowering but controlable to cut back when needed.

I was thinking along lines of Rhododendrom or Lilac but are the flowers on those very short lived.

What other options might I have if they were not suitable. Is there any nice tree or shrub that would have nice spread of flowering a good part of the year?

I would really appreciate some recommendations,

    Thanks
