Extracurricular activities - Marriage

Just an observational point of interest. Myself and a friend have started socialising again as single (separated) women, we are both 40. We both have noticed the level of married men or men in relationships who are, for want of a better word, chasing other women on a regular basis, quite unashamedly and publicly??? (I am sure there are women that do the same thing)
We have had nights out in different cities, different occasions but are completely blown away by this...
I feel like we were either completely clueless while we were married, and there is obviously some alternate to conventional marriage??? That or there are a LOT of unhappy marriages and relationships out there..
Any opinions on the subject??

Plenty of cheating from Men and Women.

The difference is Women keep it more secret and play it much clever.

Its one of the small reasons that does not bother me if I never get married.

Have had few advances from married women. In my own mind im like why did you get married if you want to cheat. Save yourself 20-40000 first of all and you can enjoy life without having to lie through life hoping you dont get caught.

I don't disagree, there's always been cheating from both sides. I am just shocked at how obvious and open some "gentlemen of a certain age" are about it these days, or was it always like that???. As someone who was married and never cheated I don't understand it either. I think it has to be adrenalin or boredom fuelled??

I'm no expert on this. Any chance some of it is drink fueled?

I think its aself esteething for the men if a pretty little thing is paying you attention and for the women its about control

Definitely some is drink and Dutch courage, the guys I've encountered seem like marriage changed nothing for them, or if it did it was temporary... Why get married at all then??
I have a theory that there are many Celtic Tiger Brides and Grooms out there, that got caught on the money, house, marriage, kids, Celtic Tiger powered conveyor belt and are now paying the price.. (think I am probably one of them :) ) It's just a bit disheartening to see....

Men and women cheat because we are built through millions of years of evolution to do so. It's as simple as that really. Monogomy for the most part is like putting square pegs in round holes.

My old religion teacher ( like all of them she was ****ing insane). She told us the difference between men and women. Is that women never get caught cheating

Don't know about that*, but the attitude often seems that in a couple, if a man cheats, it's his fault, and if a woman cheats, it's also his fault (as she only cheated because he didn't treat her well enough or something like that).

*I have heard the differences are huge in terms of the percentages of each sex but I don't know what the percentages are on in terms of being caught
