Does anyone know who's playing and when?

I assume there will be a timesheet but it's not on their website yet.

Only 48 pro players in the pro-am. Is that normal? I would have thought there'd be more. Also, are the rest of Thursday's field not allowed to practice on the course that day?

Maybe they can cut in some where in the middle of the Pro Am

Wouldn't that be interesting? Some poor official (a young fella of course) being told to tell Rory and Dermot Desmond, or whoever he's with, to hurry the hell up...

A YouTube moment if there ever was one!!:D

How do pro-ams generally work regarding tees, do the pro's tee it off the blue sticks and amateurs of the white or is everyone off the blues or whites? If I was ever to play in one would much prefer everyone to be off the same tee so you could really compare your game to the pros.

I notice some clubs occasionally have pro-am competitions with the club pros in the prizes taking a modest sum as prize money

How do these work, the amateur entry fees cover the prize money on offer or do the pros themselves also have to pay an entry fee and prize money and amateur prizes are all taken from the entry fee and sponsorship? Any idea how much it typically costs to enter one of these pro-am tournaments.

I played in the recent one in Slieve Russell. The Pro played off the back tees, we played off whites. Team competition was best two to count including the pro, stableford points.

The amateurs pay a fee to play in the Pro-Am which can be anywhere from 200 to 500 depending on whether there is accommodation and food thrown in. The pro pays a modest fee to enter (maybe 50 quid), not sure about accommodation.

I played in a small pro-am a while ago (€60 inc grub) and all played off the same tees. You played with your pro for a betterball score (pro also kept his singles score). Was very enjoyable.
Went to pro-am in Carton yesterday, Harrington and McDowell in particular were unbelievably polite and friendly with everyone, especially kids. Took loads of time to chat, sign autographs and pause for pictures. Well done lads.
Pros played of back sticks and amateurs on forward tees. Almost invariably the pro put his approach shot on the green and the amateurs were 5 or 10 yards short. The pros must wonder when will we ever learn to use enough club :-(.
