    Hi,
I'm trying to sell a Canon 400D and I get this strange mail she is offering to pay through Paypal and pay extra for P&P and when I asked where she is living she sent me this response:

"The extra money is to cover the postage and packaging as I am currently on duty inside a ship at the sea in UK as a naval officer.
I am actually buying the item for my son who is currently working with a company abroad

    My son Address is
    Monday Osagie.
7 Logudu Road 15, Elere Area,
    Ibadan, Oyo State,
    23402, Nigeria.,

He is presently an Electrical Engineer in one Telecommunication Company over there.
Kindly ship the Item directly to him via registered post. Mark the package as a gift item with the note "A GIFT FROM YOUR MUM" boldly written on the body of the package"

This is when I got suspicious! Should I be!!

    The birdman

So how do they get money off me through Paypal..... ?

If you go along with the sale you will have sold your camera for zero return. Thats how they get the money from you, google it as said above.

They never pay you. You get some bogus official looking email saying that the funds will be released when you mail the parcel and send them the tracking number. Paypal doesn't work like that.

Obviously I would not let the camera go until I had the money in my Paypal account I was just wondering how they did it. I've just been hit by another one and the give away is "thank you for the fast reply" when I had left it 4 hours to reply!

Yea I'm used to using Paypal so I would never fall for that. Unless Paypal could tell me that the funds were secure. Thanks "DaireQuinlan" I was just wondering how they were doing it.

No it is legit, Monday Osagie is related to the wife of the former Minister of the Economy who has over $80,000,000,000,0000 in an account which is being transferred to mine as soon as I send my bank details.

So go ahead, you'll have no problems with the sale.........

Do what I did...reply and say "OMG, my cousin will be in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria on holidays in a few weeks.
I've given him your address and he'll call into you in person and you can pay him cash.

    This is a total scam.
PayPal do not operate in Nigeria. This has been reported to PayPal and the person blocked.

Nice work Kelvicmam. Glad to see you're on the ball and got this sorted out for the original poster in record time. How come nobody else could see it was a scam?
