    Hi all,

I started a new job in Blackrock last week and want to travel up and down most weekends from derry...probably up from dublin friday afternoon and down sunday or monday morning even. What i'm wondering is does anyone know if there are any savings to be had when making these multiple journeys and how do you get them??
Multi trip tickets don't seem to count for these trips which is a load of balls in my opinion.
I'd also do car sharing if I could find someone driving down and up at the same times. There was a time a few years back where I could have basically stepped outside my front door and there'd have been a van with workmen travelling down but that is no more!

Any help appreciated coz I'm on crap money through FAS for 9 months so all savings are important!

Is it a long distance to be doing every week?

    Consider
    * Direct Bus Éireann bus from Derry to Dublin.
    * A bus to Letterkenny and then a John McGinley coach to Dublin.
    * Goldline Express to Belfast and Goldline Express / Bus Éireann to Dublin.
    * Train Derry-Blackrock (on one ticket), possibly cheaper if bought in Derry, but note there are often special prices on Belfast-Dublin.

Buying on-line with Bus Éireann is 5-10% cheaper thatn walk-up fares, but this generally doesn't work with an Translink services. However, you can buy on-line with Translink and they post out your ticket - I'm not sure of the discount

Just one wee point Victor, John McGinley's Inishowen service works twice a day from Inishowen & Derry to Dublin and return. Derry to Dublin timetable - http://www.johnmcginley.com/_route_mov.html, Dublin to Derry timetable - http://www.johnmcginley.com/_route_mov_b.html

Haven't a clue of prices OP, you'll have to ring them for that.
