Jobs (Steve Jobs biopic with Ashton Kutcher)

Ashton Kutcher has been signed to play Steve Jobs on an Indie version of the biopic, directed by Joshua Michael Stern. Despite the date being April Fools Day, this is apparently the read deal. In fairness, Kutcher may actually do an alright job (no pun intended) playing Steve, he has that kinda zany, hippy geekiness that may pass for the 1980s Jobs! Important to note though, that this is not the film based on Isaacson's Biography, Sony own the rights for that film.

All I want is Pirates Of Silicon Valley 2. Forget Kutcher, bring back Noah Wyle.

However, where the film completely falls down is in director Joshua Michael Stern’s disastrous decision to cast Ashton Kutcher in the central role. “I knew I was throwing myself into a gauntlet of criticism,” Kutcher said at the premiere, “and this became the most terrifying thing I have done in my life.” His fears have been realised. The poverty of his skills as a serious actor is on full display. His diction is incoherent. He clumsily signposts every emotion he thinks his character should feel: smug smiles for triumph; exaggerated scowls for disgust; nail-biting for anxiety.

    Ouch!

Hope the Sorkin version is better.

Here's the trailer. Doesn't look too promising if I'm honest.

The first trailer for the Steve Jobs biographic film "jOBS", starring Ashton Kutcher, was released today. And, as an Apple enthusiast and a huge fan of Steve Jobs, it looks horrific in every sense of the word

They took an interesting back story of a garage start-up and two geniuses in their own ways, Jobs and Wozniak, and put their own BS 'Hollywood' twist to it to come up with this mess. Kutcher is a very likeable actor, which is a problem in itself, as Jobs wasn't liked by many people. Going by the trailer, I'm not convinced he can pull off Jobs' infamous and many explosive moments. They've turned Woz's character into what appears to be a stereotypical 'Goofball' nerdy guy. And don't get me started with the Macklemore track in the trailer. The last few moments in the trailer, with Kutcher quoting and recording the "Here's to the crazy ones" advertisement, while holding up the iPod didn't work for me.

I'm doing a whole lot of judging by one 2 minute trailer, but the movie did open to mixed reviews in Sundance and can really see why going by this trailer. I'll wait for Sorkin's take I reckon.

I got to 45 seconds in that trailer.... I think I'll wait for Aaron Sorkins version

It looks like a load of cr4p, but then what could you expect from a Hollywood trailer. The pirates of silicone valley was decent enough but I wouldn't bother with this.

Its now leaked online on all the usual sites and its not great. Kutcher plays a blinder but its let down by terrible dialogue and fictions on Jobs' life that never happened.
