I'll be going into 3rd year engineering so will have to complete my 5 month PEP. I was wondering if anyone who has done it could tell me if there are any opportunities to work abroad (particularly US or Canada)? I'll be going for electronic or IT related jobs. Plenty of multinational companies but seem to be stuck in their Irish branch.

Hey, I did Civil eng in NUIG. Did PEP in Dublin but had friends that did it in US. It's definitely allowed anyway and they said it was one of the best years of their life. Go for it. I can't help you with contacts unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply. Just have one more question. Did they apply through college or did they have to sort it out themselves?

Sorted the work themselves. I think they ran it by the college and the college was happy enough with it.
