    Hi

Iverk Produce Carrick Wheelers will be promoting the Tommy Sheehan Memorial races on Sunday the 30th of June.

The under 12 and under 14 will take place at 11am on the Faugheen circuit that has being very popular with our underage league.

The Senior and under 16 races will use the "paddys days" circuit that proved to be extremely popular earlier in the year. These races will start at 1pm with the A1/A2 getting 3 laps (60miles) the A3 3 laps and the A4 2 laps and the under 16 1 Lap.

The sign on will be in the Swan GAA club (same as sportive)

We are extremly lucky to have attained sponsorship for the races from SRAM.

Yellow jerseys will be presented to the winners of the A1/A2, A3 and A4 races.

Full details to follow soon on the club website http://carrickwheelers.com/

Please let me know if you have any questions and spread the word

    John

Can i ask why the change from the traditional kearneys road rathgormack circuit ?

Was it due the course being perceived as too difficult and the result low numbers signing on or was it to do with poor road surfaces on some of the old route?

Best of luck with the race anyway and i hope ye get a good entry.

It was due to a combination of factors, the road surface on the paddys day circuit is much better, the numbers starting as guys were staying away due to the course being too hard and safety, with the old course being so hard there were groups all over the road so it was hard to ensure the riders safety.
Hopefully the changes will draw a bigger crowd, the sponsorship from SRAM is a great help and hopefully guys will be enticed by the prospect of winning a yellow jersey that they can wear out training to remind their friends of their win in Carrick!

That makes sense and i agree the surface on the paddy's day route is much better and consequently safer. in fact i would reckon there is only one poorly surfaced section left and that is the small section from davin park through to the railway bridge by the mart in carrick itself.

Although it is a fairly fast route the finishing hill still manages to prevent a mass sprint finish if i think back over the last few paddy's day races.

    Nice one.
I'm hoping to head down to this. Great to have a tangible prize for the winners too.
