Apologies if this question has been posted before but her goes

My car has been off the road now for two years, initially it was engine problems but there also came a time due to unemployemet that I just couldnt afford to pay tax , insurence and NCT etc so it became a driveway ornement for two years but now Ive gotten a job and want to get the car back on the road again,
Will there be much hassel if I go down to the local garda station and tell them it was off the road and go from there?

No, there shouldn't be. Two years is a long enough time so he may do a check to see if there were any tickets in that time, but just tell him what you've said above and it shouldn't be an issue.

As above, you will be fine.
have one of these forms filled out : http://www.environ.ie/en/LocalGovernment/MotorTax/PublicationsDocuments/FileDownLoad,489,en.pdf before going to the station and they will stamp it for you.

PS, might be worth waiting till the 1st July to avoid paying arrears/tax for June ;)

you wont get any hastle form the Gards, they are there to witness your signature. They may check their system, but if what you say is correct, that wont be a problem.

The thing about the current system is the AGS are not verifying your claim that the car was off the road, they are just witnessing your signature.
