Hi,i was just checking the dunnes stores web site to check opportunity for management there was one for grocery department manager i applied for it and they sent me an email that says :" Thank you for your recent application for a position with Dunnes Stores.Unfortunately, on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful as you have not met all the requirements required for this position.

It is hoped that this does not deter you from making further applications to the company." i didn't have any management experience in the cv i have given, my question is; could this be reason that my application was unsuccessfull? because they aren't required trainee? or would i have more chance to apply for trainee management? Thanks...

usually a job advert will say something along the lines of:

"the successful candidate will have the following experience......."
    and/or
"the duties of the role will include....."

so basically you need to make sure that your CV/application addresses each of the things they are looking for. Your CV needs to sell you to them, and assure them that based on your past experience and knowledge you understand the job on offer and can do it.

It may have said previous management experience required - or it may not. But they will definitely have been looking for people who express the qualities they are looking for in a trainee manager.

On this occasion, most probably, your CV did not convince them of your ability. It could also be that despite being a good CV, they received brilliant CV's. You are in competition with a large number of other applicants - particularly for a retail position with someone like Dunnes.

I would recommend that you spend some quality time refining your CV so that it shows you to your best advantage and makes the right impression when it lands in someones email. Think of your CV as your first round interview - what do you want it to say about you? what questions do employers want answered by your CV? So literally sit down with a pen and paper and write down two lists - one with the kinds of things employers want to know (like work history, skills, experience, proof of ability, proven track record etc), then make a list of the things you want an employer to know about you (what you are good at, particular achievements in work, personality traits (like honesty, reliability etc), enthusiasm for the role). Then use these two lists as a guide for what your CV is going to say about you.

Best of luck with future applications.

Hi, Thanks for your opinion and advises. i think i have said enough in my cv. i can't put some thing in it that i dodn't have or can?only to sell myself to them. im working in dunnes stores more than 6 years i believe i have enough experience aspecialy i would have great experience for checkout management but ther isn't position like that any more as far as i know. best referances for would be my present and previous store managers. ahh any way will see what will future bring. Thanks again...
