Friend of mine wants me to join him running this again next month but not sure how to enter? Says on the web page that pre-entry is necessary but not obvious to me how to enter :) Think it was via runireland.com last year but not 100% sure.

    Any suggestions are most welcome!

There's no Race Director, First Aider's, Laptop Operaters, on the volunteer chart. Without volunteers coming forward to host the race, it won't go ahead (hence entry isn't currently open). The reason IMRA races are cheap as chips is because of the volunteer ethos, unfortunately increasing participation does not seem to be translating in to increased volunteering.

Entry is now open via the myimra section on the IMRA website.

The date has been changed to August 18th. Gives me more time to get in shape for it!

Plod was rescheduled to this weekend and renamed to the Dublin Mountain High race.

I decided at the last minute to do it and was very glad I did. Its one of the better value half marathons in town at €20, with an optional extra €10 for a technical tees-shirt. A good move that as many runners will happily do without it.

The route is challenging. My garmin track here:- http://connect.garmin.com/activity/361005454
Certainly one of the toughest half marathons in ROI? Winning time was 90 mins. Waiting for results to be posted on imra forum.

Great weather yesterday for it. Highly recommended as an event. As a route its a nice raining run too.

I did it too and really enjoyed it. I managed to knock an entire minute off my time from last year. So all the extra work and training over the winter has really paid off!:o

Once again it was a great race - lovely scenic course and good friendly banter along the route.

I foolishly wasn't registered as an IMRA runner so the race cost me €30, which I still consider good value. But I should have joined IMRA for €10 and paid €20 to enter. D'oh well.

SJ - this may interest you in November - a 28km race along the Dublin Mountain Way from Tallaght to Johnny Foxes - it was very enjoyable (and tough!) last year.

    Thanks for that.
Forgot to mention that all finishers got a €10 voucher for the Basecamp shop too, so the effective entry for an imra member was a tenner and I believe the funds benefit the Dublin Mountains Partnership.

The €10 covers you for the year for insurance purposes and 99% of imra races then only cost €7, or €5 if you do a bulk buy. All great value in comparison to what else is out there.

SJ - Do you know if the Voucher will follow through to 2013?
I have about 4 races races left on mine and probably won't get to any more this year.

The voucher is only valid for the racing year, so no unfortunately.

    Thanks for the feedback RR.
Do you know of any way of getting my hands on the end of League prize also by any chance?
(I've fulfilled all the requirements to qualify for a prize.)

    Hi,

Just mention it on the IMRA forum. JS has all the prizes so should be able to let you know when you can pick them up. A good bet may be the Mountain Benefit Run on Wednesday.

Yeah. You could buy entries for your mates or trade it perhaps if you can't run the remaining races yourself.
