Root Canal question/advice

Hello everyone. I need some advice,

A week ago I had a root canal on tooth number 14 (upper molar on the left side). The procedure itself went fine, hardly any pain at all (just some from the shots) and afterwards the first couple of days I had mild discomfort.

Saturday night and into Sunday things changed. I began to have more sensitivity in the tooth and gums around it. If I drank water or anything too fast the tooth would feel odd (no reaction to hot or cold just...pressure from the liquid going past it).

Any movement of my tongue would send shocks of pain/sensitivity.

So I called the endodontist on Monday and they called in a script of Vicodin for me and had me come in on Wednesday to look at it.

Once there, he saw nothing wrong with the tooth. No cracks, not swelling, no odd pimple. Nothing indicating an infection. X-rays done prior to the procedure also said not visible infection.

He said that there was bruising and inflammation of the nerves in the gum and that's why it was hurting. He also ground down the temporah filling for me a bit.

Now, I bruise easily and it can take me a while to recover from them but it has been a week and there hasn't been any notable improvement.

Yesterday I developed a sore throat, and later during the day an upset stomach followed by a low grade fever.

This morning as I woke my husband up I suffered from a very strong case of nausea and dizziness.

Oh and a couple of tidbits:
I seemed to have been closing or clenching my jaws in my sleep at times, causing extreme pain to wake me and leave me stunned and rocking for a while.

I take 3 200 mil-gram ibuprofens every 4 to 8 hours for the discomfort and a Vicodin at night to help me get what little sleep I can.

I am not taking any form of antibiotics.

But I am worried. Do I have an unseen infection going on to cause this other side stuff plus the continuing pain in my tooth?

Any advice would be appreciated at all.
