How do you buy/sell/transfer these, still have a few, but no longer milking.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Have to buy 5500 shares parents sold most of theirs when I took over couple of years ago. Small price to pay for getting handed a great farm.

No worse than any of the rest of them will knock off usually up to 5% when paying upfront

I have to buy over 8000 share, really peces me off as I bought 110 k Ltrs on exchange since taking over from my dad 3 years ago and now I have to pay again.really hope that after shelling out all this cash my Arrabawn milk price will be a hell of a lot better than our usual division 3 and 4. On trading with Arrabawn and as a supplier who clears account 10 out of 12 months of the year I very often find them uncompetitive on price for fertiliser and meal in particular.their meal quality in particular can be suspect too.i bought a load of fertiliser from Glanbia in jan and saved 480 euro with same payement details.i get 3 quotes for all my big purchases in particular and more often than not Arrabawn loose out

Are ye being asked to buy shares for new milk or for existing supply if you dont have enough already?

Existing supply and over and above that. 2500 shares per 100000 litres of supplied. One euro per share. Hard on anyone who bought a lot of quota last few years.

So these are not existing shares? Are people selling and getting €1/ share?
    Are co-op creating new shares?

Sorry for all the questions but something similar afoot in Glanbia. To sit in a committee for example you need 115 shares/1000litres quota and I imagine we will all have to do immediately

Most suppliers will have some existing shares, some will have over and above but a lot won't have any.the shares mostly will be new ones and money collected will be used for post 2015 expansion in coop.share requirement is 2500 per 100 k Ltrs of existing quota, then for next 20% it is 3500 shares.a lot if older guys with big share holdings think they'll make a killing on their shares but are wrong .1euro is it full stop no more no less.

it seems to vary a lot from rep to rep

at this stage I don't waste time pricing meal from them , they simply aren't competitive

If older guys won't sell or there is no trading mechanism will they not have to issue new shares

Dan o connor is basically what u describe ,Arrabawn in sheeps clothes. The coop/Dan o connor do have a very good nurtiotinist working with them bryan doocey.Liffeys dont really know as i dont buy anything from them,But do know their fedstuff quality is meant to be good.I have been buying all my dairy feed from roches feeds in limerick,Ration/nut quality always top notch ,Competitevely priced and easy to deal with it,I always get a few bottles of wine at xmas and always get taken to a night at the dogs in limerick where grub and a fair whack of drink is laid on.Small thing i know but its nice to know your business is appreciated

Anytime I dealt with Roches they were spot on and easy deal with, used to buy a huge amount of beef ration before we changed our way of handling grain.

love the farmer line "easy to deal with"

years ago , I had accounts with O'haras in nenagh and DOC limerick and nenagh co-op

Nenagh /arrabawn took over & formed the 3 accounts into 1, they adapted this take it or leave it approach thinking that customers wouldn't leave , they lost all this area out a face

the previous nutritionist at DOC was an ignorant Boll%$£" and any farmer he called to sort out issues was a customer lost. Doocey is supposed to be ok I rang him re sheep feeds and he wouldn't match liffey .......started this sh1t about bonus shares , and I just hung up

Roches are good on price with great delivery and back up

got a dusty load and it was emptied straight away with a second lorry on the way with a re fill.

biggest issue with roches IMO is that the rep only calls 3 times per year to collect and I don't get monthly statements so the bill can be high he always phones before hand and arranges a time unlike arra (when they were calling) just arrived in , & expected to be attended to.

never any issues with liffey, brilliant rep, and good thrive from their stuff.

Maybe im wrong on this but is the share scheme in Arrabawn a good thing in a way. It might encourage lads to build up slowly and milk price hopefully won't fall through the floor. I know Arrabawn are not the best payers but they've really gone to great lengths to improve standards and milk capacity, moving away from skim products seems to be paying off. I think their future is bright.
