Dcu PDE teaching hours

    Hi guys

Apologies in advance if this question had already asked.

I am hoping to attend the PDE course in dcu on a part time basis. My question is based around the teaching hours at a school. It requires 100 hours teaching which I would imagine is completed in a block.

It also requires 200 hours systematic observation. Is this done in one complete block and if not how.

I ask this because I am working full time and would need to arrange time off

Thanks in advance for any help in this

100 hours over two years, so you could do two hours per week for two years, you'd need to work this out with the school, maybe you could do one afternoon per week, depending on the structure of their timetable etc. Observation must be new, didn't do it in my day.

The observation is a meaningless task in practice. It just means that you are in a school to see how the day to day business of a school operates. Nobody checks up on it.

Okay, I see, it's all a bit confusing when trying to arrange leave from work etc

What I did when I did the PDE was teach 4 classes every Monday for the two years. I worked the remainder of the week in my regular job.

    Okay, that seems more understandable.

In total there are 300 hours to be covered between teaching and observation.
