Any idea's what animal made this?

20-06-2013 4:46pm#1Hey folks, I live in the Wicklow mountains, new enough to the area , at the back of the garden which leads into unfarmed fields I noticed this hole when doing some garden work today, Its set into a 5ft bank at top of garden which is overgrown and no one goes up there, Its a fresh hole about 9" across,then narrows to 6"/7" further into it.
I don't think its rabbits (there are rabbits in the immediate area) seems to big.
The reason I am asking guys is that I was wondering could it be a badger? ,If so I don't want kids near it. Never seen a foxes den. far to big to be rats.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
