Hi, an Italian friend of mine is visiting her parents in italy on holiday. She is an Irish citizen and supposed to return back in 2 weeks time. Yesterday she was stopped by the police and brought to the station and searched and found around 4grams of herbal canabis concealed in her bra. Her parents home has since been searched, she was supposed to go to Sicily today but the police say that she cannot leave her home(sic) until the case goes to court. What kind of outcome could she be facing?

My question is - are the police can order you house arrest without warrant for whatever time they want? Italy or not processing even simple claim will take some time

I'm sorry but no one here can help you with your query in relation to the Italian criminal justice system. Your "friend" should contact an Italian lawyer to deal with her legal problem.
