Just wondering if anyone knows how easy/difficult it is to obtain records of one of my deceased parents?

Can the next of kin just request them?

I suggest that the executor of the estate tries to get the records by way of a Freedom of Information application on the assumption that it is a public hospital. Be careful to be clear in the request as to what you want.

Alternatively you can try to get records by way of "discovery" which is best done by a solicitor.

Hi, yes you can.......contact the Medical records officer in the relevant hospital and tell them you want the file under the FOI..... or alternatively contact the patients services officer. Depending on how big the file is, you will have to wait until they have it all photocopied for you. But their will be no obstacle to getting it.
