Cost Plus are having a liquidation sale starting today till Sunday
    http://www.costplussofas.com/

Was in the Gullivers retail park at lunchtime, most items are around 50% off. There wasn't many 70% off bargains that the sale promises. A lot of the corner sofas are priced around €700, down from €1200-1500. There are a lot of coffee tables in the €60-90 range. There was also a lot of gaudy stuff like a fake red leather sofa that I reckon will be for the bonfire on Monday morning.

There has been discussions on here before about the quality of Cost Plus sofas. Don't forget that come what may there will be no returns on any of these items.

I'd wait till the stuff ends up in actual liquidation channels. Got a leather sofa built that's like a tank for 450 that had been in Flanagans for 2k+; there was nothing even similar in build quality in Cost Plus at the time, ignoring price differences.

I doubt that you can order stuff if they intend to close up the business for good this coming Sunday, I'd say it is only the stock that you see there.

As an owner of their rubbish product and the trouble over months I have had dealing with them, I would'nt touch that stock at any price with a ten foot barge pole.

Arnotts do warehouse sales and you can buy a natuzzi leather sofa for about €2000 that is actually worth about 5000. I have one for over 10 tens and beside the obvious slight discolour from sitting on it (brown leather). Its near perfect. Buy quality and have it for a life time

went into this today and its pure muck. Very little actually has 75% off. most reductions are in the range 15-25% (e.g. leather 2 seater sofa I looked at two weeks ago was 679, down to 579) Quality is poor compared to DFS for example. The better deals seem to be around the beds.

Sale me arse, checked the price of a suite from about a year ago,now they have it at 50% off,in reality it's only €120 odd cheaper.

Rugs on "offer" for €299,I can get similar or better for less that €100 in my local carpet store.

Cost Plus are not in liquidation - they have re-organised themselves and closed about 9 branches. 5 / 6 Are staying open

    Build quality is dreadful though.

They never ever gave a "free" tv. The advert was "buy the room, get the TV" - the tv was part of the package and it was a listed value. Problem was most people thought the advert said the TV was free because of the way it was written (quite clever).

Nope - Harvey Norman actually sells quite good quality furniture and keeps most of in stock for immediate delivery. HN is not cheap, but unlike the likes of Cost Plus or dfs, its good quality, they don't have "pretend" sales, they don't claim huge false discounts or advertise ridiculous "after event" prices and in most cases you have it a few days later.

DFS is rubbish too - not as bad as cost plus, but operate the very same sham marketing tricks.

Do you really believe a company that makes 15% NET profit after all expenses including the cost of expensive TV commercials that claim HUGELY over inflated "after event" prices to fool you into coming in to their stores will / can sell you a quality suite for €599.

    No.

If you want real quality, I'll recommend Finline Furniture just off junction 15 of the M7 - that's where they are made. You can meet the guys making it for you. You can choose the fabrics & style, and the prices for the quality are amazing because they don't have to add anything for expensive showrooms / tv advertising or other retail costs.
A good suite will cost about €900 - €1500 there or more if you want top range. Also supporting local Irish jobs and a local family business.

    +1 for Finline.
Quality lasts a long long time. Worth every penny.
They are opening on the longmile soon too I think.

I had a look in Cost Plus Sofas today.

Absolute joke of a sale.....feck all actual bargains to be had.

You would allmost think that they are purposely trying not to sell off their stock with their carry on.

I rekon DFS will be next to go.........stupidly overpriced and their store was empty today.

I as the only customer in it,for well over 40 minutes today.

Another vote for finline. My mother bought my bed there about 8 years ago. It will be taken with me when I buy my own place. Comfortable isn't the word and anybody who has the pleasure of lying on it can't get over the comfort.

I really have to disagree with a lot that's being said here....

We must be the only ones who got lucky.... bought two great sofas from cost plus back in dec 12. Fantastic quality and comfort. Honestly no affiliation!!

We got two identical 2 seater sofas (again maybe luck) in the bargain area of their long mile branch. easy to clean & maintain...that's including our dog laying claim to one of them:D
