3km from Baréges, 15km from the summit. Top from Google Street View, bottom from a helicopter this morning.

Forget it. It will be closed for several months. It is ok on the eastern side, you can still ride to the summit there.

Was going to use that approach from Bagneres. But there goes the plan to go on to the Luz Ardiden.

It's ok, Luz Ardiden was reopened this morning, with a few small detours.

This is up river from Lourdes, it is a combination of melting snow and heavy rain. Lourdes is bad but Luz and Baréges are destroyed. Amazingling only 4 people died.

If you recall the maplink I sent you a few weeks back, once your descend back down the Eastern Tourmalet you can get to where you need to go via the Lesponne valley the up Col du Couret and onto Juncalas the Saint Savin.
