My parents currently each have their own car and built up their own NCB. They are thinking next year to just run 1 car. Now is it possible for them to alternative insurance on this car so they can maintain their NCB? They are both getting on and was wondering what sort of hike in insurance costs would be if their NCB elapsed?

    Thanks
    W.

Your NCB is valid for two years after the policy expires, so yes it should be possible for them to alternate each year and keep their NCB.

Does the registered owner of the car matter? It would be in my Dad's name.

    Thanks

I think when it comes to a married couple it doesnt matter if the husband or wife are the registered owners; either can take out the policy. You might want to double check that with the insurer though.

Doh. This never occurred to me when we went to one car plus a classic.
