Hi everyone, I am a 27 year old mum and believer of God but so far all these belief extends to is praying alone and trying to live my own life by the Lords will. Recently it has been bothering me that I do not actively participate in a church setting or teach my children (2 and 6) much about religion or God etc. My question is, is there somewhere that myself and my children could go that makes worshiping God interesting and would perhaps have a social aspect tied to it? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions and I am living in D.22. Thanks :)

Perhaps a little far out for you, but I happen to go to Holy Trinity in Rathmines. It has a strong focus on what I consider to be the fundamentals of Christianity, a really young demographic (early 30's perhaps) and loads of activities to keep the kids entertained. I'd also recommend Trinity Church and perhaps St Mark's on Pearch Street as vibrant places of worship. There might be something out your neck of the woods but I don't know the area well.

You didn't indicate what denomination you belong to. If catholic, you may like http://www.merrionroadchurch.ie/home . they have something for everybody.

it's not close to D22 but you might manage an occasional visit.

For the record, Dublin 22 includes Clondalkin, Rowlagh, Quarryvale, Liffey Valley and Neilstown. Suggestions in that area would be best for the OP if they are looking for community involvement.

Well done OP. Its important for Christians to meet in a community - both for them and for the community. The analogy of taking a single coal out of the fire holds true - one coal on its own can quickly stop burning..

St Catherine's on Thomas St has a great rep. Been there a couple of times and found it very faily friendly and a strong community spirit.

a very child friendly church concept is "Messy Church"

most churches run it as a monthly thing, we do it on a Thursday afternoon, some do it on Sunday afternoon.

its a child centred worship/teaching/craft time.

Salvation Army in Rathmines do one.... as do Athy C of I. have a look at google, well worth it.

Thank you for the replies everyone, I didn't know where to start. I suppose Im Catholic but not overly strict with it if that makes sense? I guess I'd possibly like to be educated more on What it means to be a Catholic as all I'd really say at the moment is I'm a believer in God. I will definitely look into them Churches you all mentioned and also I don't mind travelling as long as I'd be accepted! And myself and my children enjoy it.

I'll be back on if I have any more queries! Go raibh maith agaibh :)

There is a handy site here for finding churches in Dublin that covers all denominations: http://www.dublinchurches.com

Don't be afraid to just turn up at a few different places until you find one that feels like home. Best of luck in your search and let us know how you get on!
