    Hello.

I come from Korea and i recieve full offer from WIT at the moment.

So, i hope to prepare to live in Waterford in this September, but i'm not sure how much monthly living cost at Waterford.

Could anybody gives to me guide of approx living cost in Waterford?

I have plan for buying bike and cooking at home.

In this condition, how much living cost could i need for one month?

    Thank you!

When I'm in college during the week I spend about €100 from lunches in the college, book, copies etc.

Not having to pay for accommodation is good for you.

If you live within your means and not go stupid with money you should be ok with about €80 p/w, so therefore about €400 p/m should definitely be loads with some left over.

On-campus accommodation at WIT is around €73 and €87 per week depending on whether you want a twin room or a single en-suite, off-campus costs around €200 per month (plus bills) if you are sharing a house with 3 other people. Search daft.ie for sharing of the WIT accommodation office. I would always recommend an international student to live on campus for a while- it really helps settling in. Dinner on campus is around €5, coffees are €1.30. Shopping can be done cheaply in good discount supermarkets.

DIT (a Dublin college) did a survey of the cost of college in Dublin and many of the prices would be the same:

    Utilities €33
    Food €172
    Travel €108
    Books & materials €71
    Clothes/Medical €45
    Mobile €32
    Social life/Misc €128

So a including accommodation month at college should cost about €800-900.

But isn't the basic cost of living much higher in Dublin than anywhere else in the country? I've been up a few times, and my sister did a course in DIT and it was much more expensive up there than down here.

    That is pretty much accurate.

i am in WIT and living off campus (in riverwalk appartments)

accommodation rent per month - €320
    electricity per month - €40
traveling to and from hometown to waterford per month - €200
mobile phone and internet - €40
materials (architectural technology) - up to €80 per month
    food - €200 per month
i also own a bike but on winter days you will want the bus €80 per month (€1.80 per trip)

you wouldn't see much spare cash from €1000 per month.

    http://www.witcampusservices.ie/accommodation/

The above link is for campus accommodation. In my opinion they are expensive for what you get-a share in a basic apartment but perhaps have advantages such as meeting your peers.

The sites below are just general renting sites(not exclusively for Students just general)

    http://www.daft.ie/waterford/houses_to_rent/waterford_city/

    http://www.property.ie/property-to-let/waterford/

    http://www.myhome.ie/rentals/waterford/property-to-rent-in-waterford-city

There is an accommodation thread at the top of this page that will give you an idea about the advantages and disadvantages of the locations available.

Id say a student could live good on about 200 a week if coming here just to study. Also i would highly advise to use college apartments if coming from abroad and maybe ask them if there are any other koreans to share with.

If your planning on using the bus then I'd advise you get a bus pass, it cost €44.50 per month for students and can be used on all the waterford city buses and well as the 360 to Tramore,
you can use it as many times as you want during the month.
