    Hi.
Just wondering if anybody can help me:

    I have a 09 astra 1.9 diesel 150bhp.
Lately when I go to take off from a stop it is sluggish, the best way I can describe it is a loss of power for less than 2 seconds and then it hits in an I notice the power return.
when this happens it gives off a considerable amount of black smoke - just one cloud as the power hits in.

    Can anybody tell me:
    The problem
    The cause of the problem
    How common the problem is
The way to sort the problem
A rough estimation of the price to fix

Or any other information you may have.

The car has 120000 km on I and has had a full service including the fuel filter at 95000.

    Thank you.

Is it only on take off? Does it happen any other time

Only one other time I have noticed was approaching lights I was coming to a stop, the light went green so I dropped into 2nd and accelerated. This is when I noticed there was little power for a slight moment then it hit in and gave off a bit of smoke

Sounds a bit like a problem i've seen on some vag cars, it's a little boost valve that's fecked, it has a little diaphragm inside and it could be ruptured.
Causes the turbo to cut out and eventually not kick in at all.
Not saying that's it but it's a cheap fix and worth looking at, I got a second hand valve for a fiver and it's a 30 second fix on an a4 anyway
