moutain bike race last week in french alps

    there was a mountain bike race on in the french alps last week...does anyone know the name of it...they briefly mentioned it on euronews and the riders reached an altitude of 3,000 meters...higher than any stage of a mountain stage in the tour de france..

    It could have referred to "The Megavalanche"

    This race is held annually. and starts above the snowline.
    It is total and utter freaking madness.
    It's a Downhill mountainbike race, but with a mass start, no taped off course.
    You find your own lines.
    For some it's fun, for others, its deadly serious.
    Some of the top downhillers take part in it.
    There are seeding races during the week. Fastest qualifiers then go off at the
    front of the "Grid" in the final.

    You will find lots of clips on Utube.
    Here's one from 2011. It's a helmet cam. of a not very good competitor.
